Tech 4 Africa - Starting to get talked about on the blogosphere

We have finally got the site up and running and are getting some really positive feedback from the web commuunity. Not just in South Africa, but in other parts of the world as well.
The guys at cowboysengines wrote a pretty cool article about the conference idea and they are giving us some solid support!
Please visit the site, at www.technologyforafrica.org and give us some feedback, so that we can give feedback to the speakers, justify sponsorship and organise a really worthwhile event.

You’re sitting on a great opportunity here to use the blogging community (who spend way too much time online!) to generate feedback and suggestions on how to structure this conference. THAT is what will set you apart from the pack and make it a worthwhile event.
Go completely 2.0 - put all build events, workshops, actual conference time table on Google Calendar. Conference videos on YouTube, showcase all the blogs that help out, use collaboration tools, get all presenters to use that online powerpoint as opposed to MS PPT… stuff like that.

Yup, you’re on the money there, and thanks for some more ideas!
At the moment, we’re using a Wiki for project documentation, Basecamp for project management, and this blog for communication (when our site is live we’ll link to it and add to the Tech 4 Africa site as well).
We’re thinking we’re gonna use a combo of Flickr, Podcasting, Upcoming.org, Google Calendar, YouTube, FeedBurner, Ubuntu, OpenOffice, Google Maps (if poss. in Africa then that is), Technorati, PollDaddy, Skype etc etc - but we may have to deal with slow bandwidth on the conference days (not sure how that is going to play out yet, but we are speaking to a connectivity sponsor to help with that).
We’re trying to show two things:
1. We’re not to be thought of as the poor technology cousins from the Dark side of the room.
2. We’ve got some hot skills that can compete with the best in the world.
